When the structure erected on the original site at Pierrefitte was knocked down, several different ‘slices’ of it were put to new use elsewhere. This 17,5 x 10 m. section was converted to serve as a chapel at Quiberon in Brittany.
The chapel had fallen into disuse years ago; if it survived, it was only due to lack of funds to demolish it and put up a new building in its place.
The components of the metal structure had originally been given a bright red lacquer coat, which had disappeared in many places under a coat of solemn grey-black.
