Maurice CALKA (1921-1991)

Prototype of the large desk model known as Grand PDG, 1969.
Shell in grey lacquered fiberglass and polyester.

Unlike the production models, this prototype features neither drawers, nor recessed front apron, nor a swivel seat.

An adjustable Maurice Calka chair, with a white lacquered fiberglass shell and black dyed suede upholstery, was later adapted to allow for normal use of this desk.

Provenance
– Kees Stoop Collection, acquired by the latter in the late 1970s, from the former premises on Rue St Sabin in Paris, from the “Société Nouvelle Jansen”, a result of the 1971 merger between the decoration houses Jansen and Leleu – Deshays, publisher of the “Boomerang” desk.
