Peche’s arrival at the Wiener Werkstätte in 1915 brought new artistic impulses that influenced Hoffmann’s own creations.
Peche, who, after his studies, spent six months in Paris in 1911, drew his unrestrained inspiration from Louis XV style, old masters, Rococo style… or Cubism, which he transposed with unparalleled drawing talent into fashion and decoration.
This resulted in surprising creations, marvelous in their grace and poetry… and sometimes bordering on kitsch.
This extremely refined, leaf-patterned frame, a model for a small-series production of a fine gold-gilded mirror, is a beautiful example of his talent.
