Germaine RICHIER (1902-1959)
The Runner, 1955
Bronze, exhibition cast, Swiss foundry
205 X 54 X 94 cm
With its very slender and elongated form, The Runner is a long-distance runner, a marathoner. It is imbued with life and exudes intense effort, from
behind it almost seems to totter and particularly well conveys the perpetual instability inherent in running.
Originally resulting from a public commission intended for the Jean Bouin stadium, The Runner was never installed there.
