LE CORBUSIER (1887-1965) & DOSHI ( 1927-2023)

Storage unit from the cafeteria of the Mill Owners’ Association Building of Ahmedabad, architect Le Corbusier, c.1953-54.
Executed by B. Doshi under the direction of Le Corbusier. (cf. M.O.A. letter to LC 1/09/54).

This geometrically shaped unit is reminiscent of the standard lockers used in the French projects by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand.

Structure divided into four levels of varying heights, composed of thick solid wood planks.

Plywood doors, sliding on a track, with black-stained wooden roller handles.

Solid and veneered wood, different from the species used in Chandigarh.
