Set of 8 Méribel chairs, acquired from Galerie Steph Simon around 1960

The cylindrical ash legs are joined under the seats by cruciform stretchers.
The curved solid ash backrests; the upper edges profiled.
Woven straw seats.

Provenance:
Estate of X., Mantes-la-Ville. Work acquired from Galerie Steph Simon around 1960. This set of chairs was part of a complete interior design conceived by decorator Colas Guérin for Mr. and Mrs. X., including a furniture ensemble by Charlotte Perriand.
