The dedicatee to whom the drawing was given in 1959, Madeleine Goisot, known as “Mad,” was a friend of the Le Corbusier couple, to whom the artist entrusted some of his graphic works for sale in the late 1950s and 1960s.
The bull is one of the recurring themes in Le Corbusier’s postwar graphic work.
